Researchers at a Russian university conducted a survey of university students to find out if they would fall in love with a sex doll inside a sex doll storage case. More than two-thirds of the men agreed with the idea, while almost the same percentage of women opposed it.
The first reaction was to blame gender for this difference. Who would disagree with the statement that humans are not interested in anything unless their basic desires are satisfied? When relationships are in turmoil and the psychological and physical spread of disease is a real threat, sex dolls can be the best option for getting out of those relationships.
While aware of the bias of this view, the editors of BestRealDoll believe that the film Air Puppets, which has an alternative consciousness theme, also supports this view. This work by Japanese anime master Hirokazu Kimi tells the story of an anime sex doll named “Little King” that wakes up when its owner, Hideo, goes to work. During their time together, Hideo does his best to take care of this inanimate creature.TPE sex dolls, bathing him, brushing his hair, dressing him, and falling in love with her. But when he learns that she is “still alive,” he demands that she be returned to her original state.
Air Doll is not so much a story of urban loneliness as it is a journey to find love in another world of consciousness. The desire to seek love is a basic human instinct. But her journey to find love ends in tragedy in a world full of glamorous love. Hideo is portrayed as a bad guy, but in the age of fast-food love, is he an outsider or a normal person?
Is everything bad? After seeing the results of this study, BestRealDoll's editors also thought of another movie, “Her,” directed by Spike Jonze in 2013 and starring Jackie Phoenix as a lonely man in a futuristic world. In the movie, Jackie Phoenix plays a lonely man in a futuristic world who develops an attachment to an artificially intelligent sex robot doll called Samantha.
At the beginning of the movie, Theodore is going through a divorce and is reluctant to try a new relationship. However, his loneliness in the city prompts him to try to contact Samantha. Perhaps it is the pain of failing in real relationships that motivates him, but who knows? Maybe he is attracted to Scarlett Johansson's voice.
If Air Puppet is still about a man's last tenderness, She is the opposite. The movie ends with Samantha delivering the death blow. It tells Theodore that it is not only with him, but that it is connecting with thousands of people every second. This is very shocking to the audience. It makes Theo even more sad. It gives us a common understanding of these technologies. Samantha's robotic multitasking program makes life easier, rather than suddenly washing away all meaning from life, as Samantha brings such emptiness to the instrumental understanding.
However, Air Puppet's and Her's different approaches to inhuman love also reveal a common truth. Although Little King and Samantha are not human, they are very much human. For Little King, this is easier to imagine. She is, after all, a very human sex doll, but even Samantha, with her voice, is thought to be a real person. When they're on screen, the viewer can't imagine that they're not human. Simply recognizing them requires a constant struggle with the urge to see them as non-human.
When we think of them as human, they all raise a more fundamental question: what are we talking about when we talk about shemale sex dolls? Should we realize that with the penetration of AI, we won't be able to distinguish between robots and humans outside of science?
If the study participants had seen a sex doll or a new age anthropomorphic robot before being asked this question, their answers might have been very different.
