I went into Diablo 4 Season 12 expecting the usual loop: grind, upgrade, repeat. Instead, I hit a wall called Obducite, and it shows up way earlier than you'd think. You can be cruising in Torment 4, feeling sorted, then open masterworking and realise you've got nothing to spend. If you're already browsing options like Diablo 4 Items buy, I get it, because the season's best parts are fun, but the resource pacing can feel like it's trying to slow you down on purpose.
A lot of players default to Nightmare Dungeons because it's familiar. That's the trap. You'll get some materials, sure, but it's not the best return for your time if Obducite is the problem. Infernal Hordes tend to pay out better on raw volume, and you notice it fast once you track a few runs back-to-back. The bigger swing, though, comes from Bloodied Sigils. They're the difference between "I'm barely moving the needle" and "okay, this is finally worth logging in for." You can feel the game reward you for planning instead of just queueing up another random dungeon.
Bloodied Sigils aren't free power. Some of the affixes are straight-up run killers if your build isn't ready. I learned that the hard way with a Relentless Butcher modifier. Sounds cool until you're in the fight and realise it's a pure damage check. Stop attacking for a beat, dodge wrong, get crowd-controlled, whatever, and the boss starts healing back the progress you just made. If you can't keep pressure on, you're not "challenged," you're just burning time and wasting sigils.
The seasonal Fresh Meat mechanic is the one thing that doesn't feel like homework. You pick it up naturally, then later it turns into a real payoff at the Shrine of Slaughter. Becoming the Butcher isn't subtle. It's loud, messy, and honestly hilarious, especially if you're on voice chat and your mates don't expect you to barrel in as a walking meat grinder. It breaks up the routine in a way Diablo needs when the endgame gets repetitive.
The Boss Ladder additions are decent, but the real draw is build-enabling loot like Butcher's Brand, especially for Sorcerers leaning into freeze and shatter. When a Unique can drip-feed Obducite from frozen kills, it changes how you farm and what content feels "worth it." The catch is the usual one: not everyone can sink dozens of hours chasing a single drop. For players with limited time, grabbing targeted gear through services like U4GM can be the difference between actually playing the season and just staring at a stalled upgrade screen.
