The lemonwood pegs that are hammered into each sole aren't just decorative they also help to strengthen the connection between inside and outside soles. This method has been used for more than 150 years as it's more effective than nails made of metal which often rust or fall out over time.

Non-Insulated

The boots were initially designed for hunting, fishing and for exploring Maine forests - and are as such in the present. Their bottoms are made of thermoplastic rubber for excellent cracking and leak resistance at the LL Bean Lewiston plant in Maine The uppers are joined using rubber cement glue before being permanently sewn together using waxed threads in three rows. They are adorned with the iconic LL Bean logo stamped onto every heel.
