Season 11's got me doing that annoying check after every run: hover each drop, squint at affixes, then sigh and salvage. If you're trying to finish a build without losing your mind, you'll want a clear loop, not vibes. I keep a small stash of mats and only spend them when I'm actually hunting a slot, and when I'm short on key pieces I'll sometimes peek at D4 Items just to avoid wasting an entire weekend on bad luck.
For early Torment farming, Echo of Varshan is still the easiest boss to spam without turning it into a full-time job. Malignant Hearts build up naturally from Whispers, so you can stack runs fast. If you're on Rogue, Varshan's basically home base for Condemnation, and Sorcs still chase Tal Rasha's Loop here too. When you're ready to pivot into armor-heavy upgrades, Grigoire is the practical move. Living Steel isn't hard to stock if you're actually showing up for Helltides and tagging Blood Maiden events, and he's a steady source of those "finally, a usable roll" Ancestral pieces like Penitent Greaves.
Once you're past the warm-up bosses, the targeting gets sharper, and so does the annoyance. Lord Zir is straightforward because Exquisite Blood comes in at a decent pace, and his drops matter for a lot of builds. If you're hunting Fractured Winterglass, you'll be here longer than you want to admit. Thorns players also know the deal: Razorplate is the reason you keep paying that blood tax. The Beast in the Ice is the opposite vibe. Distilled Fear means Nightmare Dungeons, and yeah, it can feel like chores. Still, if you need Fists of Fate or Paingorger's Gauntlets, you don't really get to bargain with the game.
When you step into the "big ticket" bracket, Duriel and Andariel remain the classic targets, especially for those chase-tier drops people still call out in chat. They're consistent, they're familiar, and your group probably already has a route for mats. But Belial has changed how a lot of folks plan their sessions this season. The mechanics punish sloppy play, yet the reward feels worth it if you can stay clean. If you're serious about Mythic Uniques like Harlequin Crest or Tyrael's Might, it's hard not to put Belial into your rotation.
There's a point where it stops being "the chase" and starts being you staring at an empty stash tab of summoning mats. When that hits, I switch to shorter sessions and only run the boss that matches my missing slot, no detours. Some players also bridge the gap by grabbing currency or specific gear through u4gm so they can get back to actually pushing Pit tiers instead of living in Helltides all night.
