A young boy walks into a barber shop, prompting the barber to lean toward his customer and say, "Watch this; I’m about to show you how clueless this kid is." He holds out a dollar bill in one hand and two quarters in the other, then calls the boy over, asking, "What do you want, buddy?" The boy chooses the quarters and leaves.
The barber turns to his client, saying, "See? He never figures it out!" As the customer exits, he spots the boy coming out of an ice cream shop. Curious, he asks the boy, "Why did you pick the quarters instead of the dollar?"
With a lick of his ice cream cone, the boy responds, "Because once I take the dollar, the fun is over!"
