March of the Goblins is the sort of Diablo 4 event that rewards a bit of planning. Treasure Goblins appear more often, and their bags can contain gold, materials, Obols, Seals, Talismans, Runes, and Nightmare Sigils carrying the Treasure Breach affix. If your build still needs upgrades, a quick look at D4 items can help you decide which drops are worth chasing before you set out. The real trick, though, is to build event reputation first rather than rushing into random routes.
Push the Reputation Track First
The Altar of the Goblin in western Kyovashad opens a ten-rank reward path. Each rank gives a useful cache, but Ranks 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 matter most because they add permanent improvements to Treasure Bag drop rates. Rank 1 starts with basic supplies. Later rewards cover gold, materials, Obols, gem fragments, and Runes. Rank 9 adds strong Legendary gear and Temper Manuals. Rank 10 also grants the Regalia of the Sacred Creed mount trophy and Fedric's Gift, which includes a Resplendent Spark and more Runes.
Use Infernal Hordes to Reach Rank 10
Open-world kills build reputation steadily, but Infernal Hordes are much quicker for the first push. In the War Plans system, invest along the middle Infernal Hordes path until Total Chaos is available. That choice makes Aether Goblin Chaos Waves appear more often, although each wave offers one fewer Infernal Offering choice. One successful wave can carry a character from Rank 1 to Rank 10, so it is usually better to do this before spending time on long regional circuits.
Make Open-World Runs Easier to Read
After the reputation bonuses are active, reduce competition by turning off Cross-Network Play in the Connect settings. Then hire Subo from the Mercenary Den. His tracking marks nearby enemies and resources, which makes fleeing goblins easier to notice. Skovos is a strong choice for expansion owners, with routes around Celestia, Akarat's Bulwark, Shepherd Hills, and Observatory Approach. Nahantu works well from Samuk through the Five Hills and Reflection's Edge. In the base territories, try Northshore and the Cursed Scarps from Marowen. Check the full map often; goblin icons can appear there before they reach your screen.
Turn Nightmare Dungeons into Repeatable Runs
War Plans can also reshape Nightmare Dungeons around goblin hunting. Goblinfall can add Treasure Breach Sigils to goblin drops, while Altar of Avarice replaces normal Horadric Altars with Goblin Altars after every 20 elite kills. Greed is Good gives slain dungeon goblins a chance to open a portal to the Goblin's Retreat. Inside, The Grand Hoard offers dense enemy groups, large chests, Aurix the Hoard Eater, and a curious cow statue. With the rank bonuses active, a sensible route, and a dungeon plan built for repeat runs, you can gather more useful loot in less time while keeping your gold and material stockpiles moving through cheap D4 items when needed.
