The boots were initially intended for fishing, hunting and exploring Maine woods - and remain so in the present. The bottoms of their boots are made from thermoplastic rubber, which provides excellent cracking and leak resistance at LL Bean's Lewiston plant in Maine; uppers are attached by using a rubber cement glue prior to being permanently stitched together with waxed thread in three rows. They are adorned with the iconic LL Bean logo stamped onto every heel.
